Ľuboš Bendzák: The uncertain light of day
 – Slovakia

Ľuboš Bendzák (* 1966) lives in Košice, writes poems and literary texts and publishes in literary magazines and anthologies. According to him, he is attracted to mysterious graffiti, scribbled-over underpasses, traces of human creativity in the banal concrete anonymity of the city. In it he offers his observations on common and banal phenomena, forms of relationships and non-relationships. His poetry timelessly reflects moments of truth in everyday life, in loneliness and in everyday encounters.

He wrote Básne pre Soňu Marmeladovovú (Poems for Soňa Marmeladovová, 1995), Zápisky z čudného domu (Notes from a Strange House, 2005), Vodka (2009), Vytrvalosť sivej (The Perseverance of the Gray, 2010), Pohreb andulky a iné udalosti dňa (The Funeral of a Budgie and Other Events of the Day, 2015), Samota je moja staršia sestra (Solitude is My Older Sister, 2017), Vlastná váha (One’s Own Weight, 2019), Práce a dni (Work and Days, 2021) a Pestovať bonsaj (Growing a Bonsai, 2024).
